Dept. stores begin 2009 business with price-cuts

TOKYO, Japan - Customers buy traditional lucky bags at a department store in Tokyo's Nihombashi district on Jan. 2. Major Japanese department stores kicked off their business for 2009 the same day, cutting prices to attract increasingly thrifty consumers amid a recessionary economy.
