Filipino family granted temporary stay

TOKYO, Japan - Arlan Calderon (L) and his wife Sarah from the Philippines answer questions from reporters in front of the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau on Jan. 14 after the bureau told them that temporary permission for them and their 13-year-old Japan-born daughter Noriko to stay in Japan has been extended by a month to Feb. 13 beyond its Jan. 14 expiration. Arlan and Sarah illegally entered Japan in the 1990s and the family is under a deportation order.

Noda registers marriage
