Tokyo eyes realignment accord on Marines with U.S.: Nakasone
NAHA, Japan - Okinawa Gov. Hirokazu Nakaima (R) hands a letter of request on the planned U.S. military airfield in Okinawa and other items to Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone (L) at the Okinawa prefectural government building on Feb. 1. Nakaima repeated his request that an envisioned airfield -- with two 1,600-meter runways in a V-shape formation that will use part of the coast of the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Schwab in Nago -- be moved offshore.
