'Eco-points' ready for registration, exchanges of goods

NARASHINO, Japan - Customers are briefed on registrations for ''eco-points'' at a supermarket in Tsudanuma, Chiba Prefecture, on July 1 as the Japanese government began accepting consumer registrations. Eco-points were introduced to stimulate purchases of more efficient electric appliances, as well as applications to exchange points for merchandize, gift coupons and electronic money.
