ASAHIKAWA, Japan - People stroll through a field of lavender in full bloom at Farm Tomita in Nakafurano in Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido on July 17. Around 60,000 lavender seedlings were planted in a 6-hectare field along with poppies and baby's breath, attracting tourists from across Japan. Asami Tsuchiya, 25, from Tokyo, said, ''It's the first time I've seen such a huge field of flowers and it's more beautiful than I imagined.''
