Room for N. Korea defectors resettlement facility

SEOUL, South Korea - This photo shows a room at the Hanawon resettlement facility for defectors from North Korea in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province. The defectors, many of whom suffer chronic headaches and stress-induced mental ailments such as anxiety disorder and insomnia, live in groups at the facility. Some have also lost relatives and other people close to them to starvation but they rarely talk about it, staffers say.

South Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Yu Myung Hwan said Feb. 11 that Kim can soon meet with the relatives of Japanese woman Yaeko Taguchi, who is believed to have taught Japanese to Kim in North Korea after being abducted to the secretive country in 1978. North Korea said Taguchi already died but her family members say they do not believe it and have long called for information about her whereabouts.
