Hatoyama elected new prime minister, launches coalition gov't

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama (C), Social Democratic Party leader Mizuho Fukushima (L) and People's New Party leader Shizuka Kamei join hands at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo ahead of their talks on the new coalition government on Sept. 16, 2009. Hatoyama, who was voted in as Japan's 60th prime minister the same day, launched a tripartite coalition government that will aim to reduce bureaucratic power and boost the world's second-largest economy.
