Painter Hirayama dies at 79
TOKYO, Japan - Traditional-style Japanese painter Ikuo Hirayama, shown in a July 2005 file photo, died of a stroke at a Tokyo hospital on Dec. 2, 2009. He was 79. Hirayama is known for his works themed in the Silk Road and Buddhism as well as for his efforts to preserve and restore the cultural heritages of the world.
