Ski areas in northern Japan face severe shortages of snow
YAMAGATA, Japan - The Zao Onsen Ski Resort in Yamagata Prefecture, which opened Dec. 5, 2009, faces dried grass and soil on many parts of its slope on Dec. 10. Ski areas in Japan's Tohoku district are facing severe shortages of snow this year, raising worries among ski resort operators, workers and other related people ahead of the arrival of the busy year-end and New Year period.
