Sankei correspondent awarded French honor

PARIS, France - Shoko Yamaguchi, the Paris bureau chief of Japan's Sankei Shimbun newspaper, is awarded the French decoration Officier of the National Order of the Legion of Honor by a press secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Paris on Jan. 27, 2010, becoming the first Japanese journalist to receive the fourth rank of the order's five degrees. Yamaguchi, who has been covering France since 1990 as bureau chief, received the Chevalier, the fifth-ranked order, in 2001.
