Kan says he would aim for clean politics free from scandals
TOKYO, Japan - Deputy Prime Minister Naoto Kan, who doubles as finance minister, declares his candidacy for the presidential election of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan during a press conference at the DPJ's headquarters in Tokyo on June 3, 2010. Kan is widely believed to be the front-runner to succeed Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama who abruptly announced his intention to resign after eight months in office.
