U.S. economist says Japan should focus on economic growth
NEW YORK, United States - David Weinstein, associate director for the Research Center on Japanese Economy and Business at Columbia University, spoke in an interview with Kyodo News at his university office on July 6, 2010. Weinstein said Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan should focus on economic growth before tackling long-term issues such as restoring the nation's fiscal health through a hike in its sales tax.
