Banners for peace encircle A-Bomb Dome in Hiroshima
HIROSHIMA, Japan - Schoolchildren holding banners decorated with messages of peace observe a moment of silence for those killed by the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima, near city's Atomic Bomb Dome on Aug. 1, 2010. Participants, who encircled the dome, tied 900 banners contributed from around Japan with ribbons, at the event to call for peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons, ahead of the 65th anniversary of the bombing on Aug. 6.
