Baby monkeys serve as stationmasters

KASAI, Japan - Rakan, a male monkey born in July who serves as a master at Hojomachi Station on the Hojo Railway line in Hyogo Prefecture, takes a ride on a train in Kasai on Oct. 16, 2010. The railway company launched the same day Japan's first biodiesel-fuel train service using used edible oil.

Elephant fatally injures breeding staff

An elephant keeper at the safari park died on Oct. 16, 2012, after being attacked by a mother elephant that had given birth two days earlier. The keeper, a Lao national, began working at the safari park in July 2011, when he was assigned to take care of the mother elephant, and had been checking on the baby at the time of the attack.
