Cartoonist Mizuki named as Person of Cultural Merit

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese cartoonist Shigeru Mizuki talks to reporters in Tokyo on Oct. 25, 2010, about the government's nomination of him as a Person of Cultural Merit. Japan's oldest person dies

She was Japan's oldest person. The government said Jirouemon Kimura, a 114-year-old man in Kyoto Prefecture, western Japan, is now the country's oldest person.
