JR East Shinkansen trains suspended due to system failure

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken from a Kyodo News helicopter shows a stopped Shinkansen bullet train in Saitama, between Ueno and Omiya stations on Jan. 17, 2011. All five lines of East Japan Railway Co.'s Shinkansen bullet train services were suspended for 75 minutes due to a failure in their control system on the day, affecting at least 53,000 people.

              UTSUNOMIYA, Japan, Aug. 26 Kyodo - A light rail transit train carrying children and others runs through Utsunomiya in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, after a ceremony commemorating the start of the service is held at JR Utsunomiya Station on Aug. 26, 2023.
