Beached melon-headed whales

KASHIMA, Japan - People try to rescue and return to the sea melon-headed whales that were found to have beached on the shore in Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture, in eastern Japan on March 5, 2011. Of about 50 of the whales found there the previous night, 22 were rescued and returned to the sea on March 5, but 30 died and were buried on the nearby shore.
