2 men acquitted of murder 43 years after arrests
TSUCHIURA, Japan - Takao Sugiyama, 64, wipes his tears during a press conference at a hotel in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, on May 24, 2011. Earlier in the day, the Tsuchiura branch of the Mito District Court in a retrial acquitted Sugiyama, and Shoji Sakurai, also 64, of the murder of a man in the prefecture, clearing their names more than 43 years after their arrests. They were freed on parole in 1996.
