Charred train in Hokkaido
SAPPORO, Japan - Personnel associated with Hokkaido Railway Co. probe train cars gutted by a fire in the village of Shimukappu, Hokkaido, on May 29, 2011. The express train made an emergency stop in the middle of a 685-meter tunnel on the JR Sekisho Line on May 27 due to the fire. Around 240 on board escaped the scene on foot, with some 30 of them injured after inhaling smoke or suffering burns.
