Kan ready to quit after passing extra budget, 2 key bills

TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Naoto Kan speaks during a press conference at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on June 27, 2011. Kan said he is ready to quit after securing parliamentary passage of the second extra budget for fiscal 2011, a bill to enable the government to issue deficit-covering bonds and a bill to promote the use of renewable energy, meaning that he could resign by the end of August when the current Diet session ends.
