NAGOYA, Japan - Brother Industries Ltd. said on Aug. 24, 2011, it has developed ''AiRScouter'' liquid crystal head-mounted displays to be worn like glasses, initially for industrial use and in the future for entertainment purposes. The device will help plant workers assemble products by projecting instructions on its display.

        NAGOYA, Japan - Shuichi Terada, head of Chubu Electric Power Co.'s legal department, announces at a press conference in Nagoya on Oct. 6, 2011, that the utility has reached a settlement with Hitachi Ltd. over a 2006 accident at its Hamaoka nuclear power plant in Shizuoka Prefecture involving a Hitachi-made turbine. Hitachi will pay 9 billion yen to Chubu Electric.

                TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows resin which workers began test-spraying on April 1, 2011, at a nuclear power plant crippled by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Fukushima Prefecture to prevent radioactive particles from being dispersed. Tokyo-based Kurita Water Industries Ltd. developed this water-soluble resin, which has coating effects. The company said the resin was originally developed for use in land reclamation and development work to prevent sand from being dispersed, so its efficiency in solidifying radioactive materials with soil is uncertain. The resin is painted green to make it easy for workers to see areas that have been already sprayed.
