The Innovation Network Corporation of Japan, an investment fund owned largely by the government, said Nov. 15, 2011, it has agreed in principle with Panasonic to buy the plant for use by a joint LCD venture it is forming with three other manufacturers.

Sony's tablet computers

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. Sony head indicates flexible approach on LCD panel purchases

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. President Ryoji Chubachi indicated in an interview with Kyodo News on Dec. 25 a flexible approach on the procurement of liquid-crystal-display television panels after some of its rivals announced their cooperation in LCD panel development and production.

Hitachi, Canon, Matsushita tie up in flat-panel business
