World heritage shrine covered by mud

NACHIKATSUURA, Japan - Kumano Nachi Taisha, a Shinto shrine registered as part of a UNESCO-designated world heritage site in the town of Nachikatsuura, Wakayama Prefecture, remains covered in mud on Sept. 7, 2011, after torrential rain brought by a powerful typhoon hit the area.
