Portsmouth Peace Treaty original text
TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken Oct. 6, 2011, at the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo shows part of the original Portsmouth Peace Treaty text. The treaty was signed by the Japanese and Russian envoys at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the state of Maine, the United States, on Sept. 5, 1905, formally ending the 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese War. The signatures of Japan's Jutaro Komura and Kogoro Takahira are seen in the photo.
