Japan's new radar satellite launched

TANEGASHIMA, Japan - A ring of cloud appears around the head of an H-2A rocket carrying a new information-gathering satellite due to its high speed while the rocket ascends in the air after being launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on Dec. 12, 2011. The radar satellite successfully separated from the rocket into an orbit as planned, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
