JFE, IHI to merge shipbuilding units

TOKYO, Japan - Universal Shipbuilding Corp. President Shinjiro Mishima (L) and IHI Marine United Inc. President Shigemi Kurahara hold a press conference in Tokyo on Jan. 30, 2012. The shipbuilding units of JFE Holdings Inc. and IHI Corp. will merge in October, becoming a shipbuilder comparable with industry leader Imabari Shipbuilding Co. in terms of production volume.
