Bird-shaped snow on Mt. Fuji

KOFU, Japan - Photo shows snow shaped like a bird on Mt. Fuji on Jan. 31, 2012. The shape called ''nodori'' (agricultural bird) usually appears in the spring, not in the middle of winter as in this case. The 3,776-meter mountain straddles Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures, west of Tokyo.

Ontake, a 3,067-meter volcano in central Japan, for climbers who remain missing following a deadly eruption two weeks earlier. One more climber was confirmed dead after his body was found the same day, bringing the death toll from the eruption to 56, while at least seven people are still missing on the volcano. (Kyodo)
