Elpida files for bankruptcy protection

TOKYO, Japan - Yukio Sakamoto, president of struggling Japanese semiconductor maker Elpida Memory Inc., holds a press conference at the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Feb. 27, 2012. Elpida said the same day it has filed for bankruptcy protection with the Tokyo District Court.
