Uyghur congress begins in Tokyo
TOKYO, Japan - Rebiya Kadeer, leader of the World Uyghur Congress, gives a speech during its general assembly meeting in Tokyo on May 14, 2012. The congress, which seeks political independence for the Uyghurs, began a four-day general assembly meeting in Tokyo the same day, despite Chinese opposition to Japan's issuing of an entry visa to Kadeer.
