Police release additional pictures of AUM fugitive

TOKYO, Japan - Photos taken by a security camera show Katsuya Takahashi, the last remaining AUM Shinrikyo fugitive wanted over the cult's 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway, getting in a taxi after purchasing a carry-on bag at a supermarket in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, on June 4, 2012. The Metropolitan Police Department released the additional photos of Takahashi on June 10.

Police says AUM carried out unsolved 1995 police chief shooting

Subway worker's widow applies for gov't benefits for AUM victims

TOKYO, Japan - Shizue Takahashi, 61, whose husband was killed in the AUM Shinrikyo cult's sarin nerve gas attacks in the Tokyo subway system in 1995, talks during a press conference at a press club in the Tokyo District Court building in Tokyo on Dec. 18, after applying for benefits the government will pay victims of AUM's crimes and the victim's families as the law for the step went into force the same day.

4 AUM suspects in 1995 NPA chief shooting released

Lower house approves bills to crack down on AUM

TOKYO, Japan - The House of Representatives on Nov. 18 adopts two bills aimed at cracking down on AUM Shinrikyo, the cult held responsible for the 1995 sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway system. The bills cleared the lower house with the support of the ruling camp -- the Liberal Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the New Komeito party -- as well as the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan.
