Johjima, MLB's 1st Japanese catcher, to retire
NISHINOMIYA, Japan - Kenji Johjima, the first Japanese catcher to play in the major leagues, attends a press conference in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture on Sept. 28, 2012, to announce his retirement at the end of this season. The 36-year-old, in the third year of a four-year contract with the Hanshin Tigers, has been plagued by injury the past year.
