Abandoned animals in Fukushima

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in the town of Tomioka, Fukushima Prefecture, on Oct. 17, 2012, shows an aged dog named Kiseki (Miracle) sitting leashed to a pole. While it is in the process of recovering, the canine has never howled since he was given nonprofit group head Naoto Matsumura's protection. Town residents remain evacuated following the nuclear disaster triggered by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The town's mayor declared in September 2012 that residents would not return for the next five years.
