Submersible leaves for deep-sea research trip

YOKOSUKA, Japan - Photo shows the Shinkai 6500, a Japanese manned submersible aboard its support ship Yokosuka at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology in Yokosuka, near Tokyo, on Jan. 5, 2013. The probe left for a round-the-world cruise to conduct deep-sea research aimed at studying the origin and evolution of life.
