Film director Oshima dies

TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in Tokyo in July 1982 shows Japanese film director Nagisa Oshima (C) holding a press conference about the production of his movie "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence," with Ryuichi Sakamoto (L) and Beat Takeshi, who later became known as Takeshi Kitano. Oshima, who won the best director award at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1978 with "Empire of Passion," died of pneumonia at a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture on Jan. 15, 2013. He was 80.
