"Battleship Island" in Nagasaki
NAGASAKI, Japan - Photo shows Hashima Island in Nagasaki, southwestern Japan, on Oct. 29, 2012. The island is nicknamed "Gunkanjima" (battleship island) due to the silhouette of its ruined structures and seawall. It was once prosperous but became uninhabited after its coal mines closed in 1974.
