Matsuzaka granted release from Indians

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka. The 32-year-old right-hander, who had spent the entire season with the Cleveland Indians' Triple-A affiliate after signing a minor-league contract in February 2013, has requested and been granted an unconditional release from the Indians, the team said on Aug. 20.
