TSURUOKA, Japan - A Catholic worshipper offers flowers to the renovated image of the Virgin Mary at the Tsuruoka Catholic Church in the city of Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, on April 4. The Black Madonna statue, a gift from France in the early 1900s, was returned to the church earlier in the day after undergoing extensive restoration work at Tohoku University of Art and Design.
