Trial opens of Chinese rights advocate Xu Zhiyong

BEIJING, China - A woman supporter of Xu Zhiyong, a prominent Chinese human rights activist, is pulled by a police officer near the First Intermediary People's Court in Beijing on Jan. 22, 2014, as Xu's trial commenced at the court. Xu, charged with disrupting public order, remained silent during the morning session of his first trial to protest the illegality of the proceedings, his lawyer Zhang Qingfang said.
