NHK thanked for economic boost from hit drama 'Amachan'
TOKYO, Japan - Iwate Gov. Takuya Tasso (L) presents Masayuki Matsumoto (R), president of public broadcaster NHK, with a certificate of gratitude on Jan. 23, 2014, at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo in appreciation of economic and social benefits brought about by NHK's hit drama "Amachan." Aired in 2013, the drama revolved around the traditional culture of "ama" women divers and the rebuilding of northeastern Japan hit by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami
