IHI unveils tsunami lifeboat
OSAKA, Japan - The interior of a tsunami lifeboat developed by shipbuilder IHI Corp. is shown to the press on March 5, 2014, at its plant in Aioi, Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan. The 8.4-meter-long boat, capable of accommodating up to 25 persons and toilet facilities as well as a week's supply of water and food, can withstand the impact from hitting a concrete structure while moving at a maximum speed of 36 kilometers per hour.
