OSAKA, Japan - The 300-meter-tall Abeno Harukas, Japan's tallest building, fully opens for business in Abeno Ward, Osaka, western Japan, on March 6, 2014. The Tsutenkaku tower (literally meaning "Tower Reaching Heaven"), a well-known landmark of Osaka, stands on the right.

390-meter skyscraper planned in Tokyo

Landmark for 1995 Kobe quake volunteers lit up

KOBE, Japan - Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd.'s 55-meter-tall advertising tower in Kobe, western Japan, is lit up for the first time in 10 years on Jan. 14, 2015, three days before the 20th anniversary of the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. The tower served as a landmark for volunteer workers after the disaster.
