Chinese authorities putting pressure on churches
WENZHOU, China - Graffiti denouncing the Chinese Communist Party on a wall photographed on April 28, 2014, near a church in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, shows deep conflicts between local municipal authorities and Christians in the east coast province known for having a relatively large number of Christians. Many churches were ordered to remove their crosses for their alleged violation of building codes. The conflicts culminated in the recent demolition of the city's Sanjiang Church, which was about to be completed, by the local authorities.
