KYOTO, Japan - Hiroshi Date (R) and a fellow doctor of Kyoto University Hospital on May 14, 2014, hold models of a chest region and a lung produced by a three-dimensional printer for priori simulation of a rare lung transplant from a living donor. In the operation claimed to be the world's first of its kind, the lower lobe of a man's right lung was rotated before being transplanted to the place of his wife's severely afflicted left lung which had been removed in advance.
