Asteroid named after disaster-hit town in Fukushima Pref.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan - Koichi Miyamoto (C), mayor of Tomioka Town in Fukushima Prefecture, points to a photograph of the asteroid named "Tomiokamachi" in the prefectural city of Koriyama on Aug. 12, 2014. The asteroid was discovered by an astronomer of Dynic Astropark, a commercial observatory in Taga Town, Shiga Prefecture, in 1992 and was registered with the International Astronomical Union in July this year under the name in the hope of the town's rapid recovery from the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. On the right of Miyamoto is Susumu Takahashi, head of the observatory.
