French researcher finds historical papers for Tomioka Silk Mill
MAEBASHI, Japan - Christian Polak, a French researcher of Franco-Japanese relations, points to trademarks of silk products from the Tomioka Silk Mill, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Gunma Prefecture, eastern Japan, at a museum in Yokohama south of Tokyo in June 2014. He discovered in southeastern France historical papers containing the design of silk-reeling machines used at the early stage of the mill.
