Abe's adviser calls for delay to tax hike if economy slows
TOKYO, Japan - Koichi Hamada, a Yale University emeritus professor of economics, is interviewed by Kyodo News in Tokyo on Sept. 8, 2014. Hamada, a special adviser to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, said the government should put off a further consumption tax hike to 10 percent in 2015 or raise the rate by 1 percentage point per year if the economy stalls.
