Goods featuring Hello Kitty and local mascot promote old pond

TONDABAYASHI, Japan - Products featuring "Sayarin," a local mascot promoting Osakasayama City in Osaka Prefecture, and Hello Kitty were shown at Osakasayama City hall on Sept. 1, 2014. The goods were put on sale to promote the western Japanese city's Sayamaike, Japan's oldest reservoir dating back to the Asuka period (592-710).

Solid gold Gundam figurine on display in Osaka

OSAKA, Oct. 1 Kyodo - Photo taken Oct. 1, 2015, at Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K's store in the western Japan city of Osaka, shows a Mobile Suit Gundam figurine made of approximately 1,000 grams of solid gold. MINO, Japan - Local people celebrate the registration of Japanese traditional handmade paper called "washi" as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO on Nov. 27, 2014, at the city office building of Mino, where one of the registered washi products called "Homminoshi" is produced, in Gifu Prefecture, central Japan. Confetti made of Homminoshi was used in the celebration.

World record set in Takarazuka for longest single line of dancers

TAKARAZUKA, Japan - People in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, the city famous for the Takarazuka Revue, dance together in a line on Nov. 1, 2014, as they attempt to set a world record for the longest single line of dancers. They set a record recognized by the Guinness World Records when 4,395 people danced for more than 5 minutes in a line, beating the previous record set in 2012 in the United States with 2,569 dancers. Takarazuka Grand Theater, a theater dedicated to the all-female troupe, is seen in the background.
