Former lower house speaker Doi dies at 85
TOKYO, Japan - File photo taken in March 2003 shows Takako Doi, former House of Representatives speaker and leader of the Japan Socialist Party, the predecessor of the Social Democratic Party. Doi died of pneumonia on Sept. 20, 2014. She was 85. Doi was the first female speaker of the lower house from 1993 to 1996.
