Japan's internal affairs minister to visit Yasukuni
TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows Sanae Takaichi, Japan's internal affairs minister. Takaichi said at a press conference in Tokyo on Oct. 14, 2014, that she plans to visit Tokyo's war-linked Yasukuni Shrine, a frequent source of friction with Asian neighbors, during its fall festival to be held from Oct. 17 to 20. Takaichi is a regular visitor to the shrine and the Cabinet of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has taken the position that it should be left up to each minister to decide whether to go to Yasukuni or not, as a matter of religious belief.
