Mt. Fuji gets season's 1st snowcap

NAGOYA, Japan - Photo taken from a Kyodo News airplane shows Mt. Fuji, Japan's tallest mountain, covered with a thin layer of snow on Oct. 16, 2014. Miho-no-matsubara, a seashore area lined with pine trees, is seen in the foreground. The 3,776-meter mountain got its first snowcap of the season the same day, 16 days later than average but three days earlier than last year, the Kofu Local Meteorological Observatory said.
